HERE'S OUR SPOILER FILLED SYNOPSIS
IN THE SPIRIT OF THE FIRST FILM, THE BEGINNING OF HATCHET II IS EXTREMELY BLUNT. WE OPEN ON MARYBETH (DANIELLE HARRIS, THE HALLOWEEN SERIES), WHO IS STILL SCREAMING IN THE CLUTCHES OF VICTOR CROWLEY (KANE HODDER). MARYBETH JABS VICTOR IN THE EYEBALL AND ESCAPES. SHE IS THEN SAVED BY, NONE OTHER THAN, JACK CRACKER. AFTER HE DISCOVERS HER LAST NAME, DUNSTON, HE KICKS HER OUT AND THREATENS TO SHOOT HER IF SHE DOESN'T LEAVE. VICTOR REAPPEARS AND KILLS CRACKER. SEX = DEATH, OF COURSE. |
THIS DEFINATELY FEELS LIKE A SEQUEL. DANIELLE HARRIS FILLS THE ROLE WONDERFULLY, BUT YOU CAN SEE THAT SHE FELT LIKE SHE HAD TO PROVE HERSELF. THE FILM FEELS RUSHED, AND DIDN'T FEEL VERY LONG AT ALL. THE GORE IS STILL GREAT, BUT THE WOUNDS LOOK A LITTLE TOO RUBBERY. THE MOST EFFECTIVE DEATH IS THAT OF VICTOR CROWLEY. HARRIS PUTS HIM IN HIS PLACE, AND AFTER THIS IT'S HARD TO SEE HOW THE SERIES WILL CONTINUE, UNLESS THE GHOST CONCEPT IS FOLLOWED. OVERALL THIS IS A KICKASS FILM THAT DELIVERS THE GOODS IN A SWAMP THAT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THE ONE IN THE FIRST FILM. DANIELLE HARRIS SHINES IN AN UNFAMILIAR ROLE.

NOW, LET'S MAKE THIS A TRILOGY!
